The Friday Photo: Singapore By Night
At night, Singapore’s malls shut down eventually, though their adverts still beckon and gleam.
But the skyline comes into its own. Down on the waterfront, at Marina Bay, the Fullerton Hotel is lit up like Christmas.
The One Price Store on Emerald Hill shut up shop long ago.
But there are Singapore Slings.
And Japanese craft beers.
Best experienced, perhaps, in an infinity pool on top of the city. Like this one, at Marina Bay Sands.
All the photos are fantastic, but the first one is jaw dropping beautiful. Nice work.
Thanks, Jessica.
Beautiful shots!
How’d you get the pool shot at MBS? They were total nazi’s about pool photography when we went (and weren’t guests, boo!)
The book is definitely working. Fantastic photos. Love the first one the best.
Wonderful photos – love how you take unique angles and close ups of various signs. I never seem to take chances like that . . .
Beautiful photos! Very professional looking – you are obviously a quick learner!!
I think a lot of it’s down to Lightroom rather than me…
I remember my first trip to Singapore. I got in late at night, checked into my hotel and just wanted to collapse. I happened to look out the window and I was blown away. What an insane skyline. The lights, the sounds. It was incredible. The next trip was during the very first year the F1 race was being held in Singapore. Now there was some interesting sounds late a night while the cars took some practice laps. Pretty incredible to see too.
Great photos. Night shots are hard. Yours look amazing!
Thank you! I’m contemplating getting a tripod so that the slower shutter ones don’t come out blurry.
i would SO not get into that infinity pool, it freaks me out up so high. gorgeous photos!
Even with my vertigo, I was tempted. But they don’t let you in unless you’re a hotel guest. Bah!
Beautiful photos! The final piece has me dreaming about relaxing in that pool!
It’s a fabulous pool, isn’t it?
Wow — love the pics. I’m going to check out that ebook — I need to get “out of auto”! Hope I can get the kind of results that you’ve gotten.
I seriously recommend getting it. It’s much better than the print books I’ve tried. Just explains everything very, very simply.
brillant colours, your shots a beautiful.
thanks for sharing:)
eva
Thanks, Eva…
Really like the last shot, great composition and lighting.
I think that one’s my favourite too, Pete.
Stellar photography! Wow.
Thanks, Raymond!
These are really beautiful! I love night photos, but they’re so difficult to capture well. Bravo. 🙂
They are, aren’t they? A lot of mine end up all sort of shaky and out of focus. Considering getting a tripod…
Good to see these night shots. I can’t count how many times we’ve been to Singapore since ’74, but the changes have been immense.
They must have been! We were talking to a cab driver on Independence Day and he said that when Sing split from Malaysia there was *nothing* there. Makes me curious to think what Timor Leste will be like in forty, fifty years from now…
Love all the photos- especially the last one! And craft beer- sign me up!
The Japanese stuff is *seriously* amazing. I’d never tried Japanese craft beers before but they’re incredible. Cedar wood…. Ginger… Chocolate weizen…
Love these shots! It brings me back to when I was traveling in Singapore in 2008 🙂
Thanks, Samuel.
Beautiful photos! Singapore is definitely on my list of places I would love to visit! And moving away from an automatic camera is on my list of things to do. 🙂
I recommend you do it. Though there is a beauty to the sheer ease of not using auto.
goodness!! these photos are stunning!! i’ve been debating on that book!!! absolutely beautiful results!
Thanks, Jen! I would recommend you do it…
Hi amezin photo I never seen before Singapore like this simple superb view
Beautiful photos capturing Sing life at night time- the opposite of Takashamiya and Orchard rd’s throngs of tourists. I miss this. And the sling. I’ll take both.
Ah! Here in Egypt, even a bad Singapore Sling sounds appealing…
